Attending a STEM high school has made a big impact on my life. I attended Bertie STEM high school in Windsor, North Carolina, and being there has led me to be who I am today. Learning advanced science, technology, engineering, and math has helped me in college. My favorite STEM course in high school was science. What made science so special to me was having dedicated teachers who really enjoy teaching it, making it fun, and ensuring that students actually know and understand what is being taught.

I would strongly encourage anybody who wants to try to study or work in a STEM field to do so. It opens up great opportunities. At this moment I am studying computer science at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina and in about 5 to 10 years I see myself running my own company, either programming computers or doing something else similar. The reason why I have those high standards is because the STEM education I have received has given me the mindset that I can accomplish anything I want.
